Love Understands
This movie consists of an audio recording by Wayne Bent who called home from prison in January. At the time he was housed in the mental health section at Los Lunas. He was not permitted letter writing materials so he had to call home and dictate a response to a letter he received from Cristi, who is one of his daughters. The call was recorded, and eventually incorporated into this video which was sent to her. She gave her permission for us to post this movie on this website.
This video contains footage of Wayne Bent’s arrest on October 30th by the Union County Sheriff who was serving a bench warrant issued by Judge Gerald Baca. Wayne was three weeks into a religious fast, and as you will see he had difficulty walking with assistance. Upon reaching the ambulance he lost his legs and went down.
Years ago Cristi gave her father a picture of her and her son and the torn half of a dollar bill with the words “Keep this” written upon it. It was a token from her that, one day, they would be reunited.
