Update on Michael Travesser
On Monday, August 31st, Wayne Bent aka Michael Travesser was brought into a meeting with the prison warden, deputy warden, and other prison staff where he was informed that he would be force fed by the prison before he was allowed to die. Michael told me this by phone.
On Tuesday, September 1st, I received a phone message from a prison official that Michael was moved to the prison hospital. We have received no phone calls from Michael since that message was delivered.
Today, I spoke by phone to the deputy warden who informed me that Michael was put in “segregation” at the prison hospital. I asked if that was the same as “lock down” and he confirmed that it was. He would give no information concerning Michael’s fast or his condition at the present time, stating it was “personal information” that he could not share.
Since Michael has been put in solitary confinement and cut off from contacting his family, we may assume at this time that he has entered his full fast, as he said he would in his letter.
Eating the food of somebody who molests you, is compromising yourself to survive, and this is intolerable for me. I will begin ceasing to take sustenance on August 31st. My ceasing to take communion with the monster who molested our church, will not be in secret. The whole world can watch me go. This could change, however if I were put in solitary or lock-up, and I would begin the complete fast immediately if I were locked away or tortured again.
